It’s no fun thinking about your employee benefits every year during open enrollment. Coming face-to-face with a slew of scenarios that make you uncomfortable isn’t easy, but it’s necessary. If the pandemic has taught us anything, it’s that life doesn’t wait for open enrollment, and neither should you! Budgeting, shopping around for a car, and balancing your checkbook aren’t fun tasks, but again, they’re necessary.
It’s time to give your employee benefits the respect they deserve because, who knows, you may even end up saving money! By following these three open enrollment tips, you’ll be that much closer to becoming pandemic proof while protecting your family and money.
#1
Ask for help.
Your HR department knows exactly what to send you so you can learn more about your benefits offering. They’ve got access to flyers, videos, and emails that are easy to understand and ready to send your way.
#2
Know which benefits best suit your lifestyle.
Would it make sense for a family of five to buy a convertible as their only vehicle? Your lifestyle and life events affect which benefits can save you the most money. Parents with little athletes may want to enroll in Accident Insurance, and someone who wouldn’t be able to afford their lifestyle without a paycheck would want disability insurance. If your company offers an open enrollment meeting, be sure to attend!
#3
Save the date!
Being mindful and aware of when your open enrollment is can take a lot of the stress away from preparing for it.
